What Are Prepositions of Time?
- What They Are: Prepositions of time are little words that tell us when stuff happens.
- Common Ones: The big three are at, in, and on.
Using Prepositions of Time:
- At: This one's for specific times like at 5 PM, at midnight, or at lunchtime.
- In: Use this for months, years, and longer times. Like in July, in 2023, or in the morning.
- On: This is for days and dates. Say on Monday, on Christmas Day, or on October 21st.
Role in Conversation and Writing
- Planning Stuff: Like The meeting is at 3 PM on Friday.
- History Stuff: The telephone was invented in the 19th century.
- Everyday Stuff: I go to the gym in the evening.
Common Mistakes
- Confusing 'In' and 'On' for Days and Dates:
- 🚫 Wrong: I will see you in Monday.
- ✅ Right: I will see you on Monday.
- Misusing 'At' for Longer Periods:
- 🚫 Wrong: She studied at the 1990s.
- ✅ Right: She studied in the 1990s.
- Incorrect Preposition for Specific Times:
- 🚫 Wrong: The show starts on 8 PM.
- ✅ Right: The show starts at 8 PM.
- Using 'In' Instead of 'On' for Specific Dates:
- 🚫 Wrong: My birthday is in July 22.
- ✅ Right: My birthday is on July 22.
- Overusing Prepositions Where Not Needed:
